Isipathanaramaya temple is a huge Sri lanka tours attractions in Colombo with few steps away from the intersections of Havelock and Dickmans road, Colombo 5. The temple is a magnificent place with colorful frescoes portraying the story of Lord Buddha on the walls and ceiling.
The temple has Beautiful Buddha statues and a breath taking stupa with a glorious boa tree. It is a great place for peace and harmony of the mind as it takes you to a rather different world. A place well worth a visit in Sri lanka travels.
The temple dates back to 1915, it was built by a father to bring merit upon his only son who was executed by a colonial regime when Sri lanka was ruled under the British monarch. The originality of the temple is well preserved as nothing has been done to change its original looks over the decades. The large shrine room (viharaya) itself shows the magnificent architecture in early 1900. The original paintings on the walls and the ceiling, well recites Buddhism as itself. The temple is an architectural beauty and a heaven for serenity.
