
Peace Pagoda is an enormous shrine, recently restored to become one of the most prominent landmarks Bandarawela. Buddhist Stupa is worshiped by many tourists including both Localss and foreigns. It is a memorial to titillate peace among people. There are 4 stupas in various places of Sri Lanka. They located in Sri pada, Bandarawela, Walapane and Ampara. Bandarawela peace pagoda is also known as Sama cetiya. It was completed by Niponzan Myohoji monks in 1982. The stupa is a symbol of Buddhism. Most of the stupas are built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fuhi thero; founder of the Nipponzan – Myohoji Nikaya. He was first attempted to build peace pagoda stupas in 1947, as a holy place to worship. Thero Nichidatsu Fujhi traveled all around the world to make aware the people considering his message of peace and harmony. By the way, the firstly built stupas were built to indicate and demonstrate the peace among the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Naghasaki, where over 1750000 people died during the 2nd world War.
