Dewagiri viharaya, nesting at Bingiriya village, Kurunegala of Sri Lanka is one of the ancient temples in Sri lanka. It is located about 16 miles off from Chilaw or 16 miles off from hettipola on Kurunegala- Chilawa road. Afterwards you have to travel about 1.6 km into the village from the road in order to reach the temple. The temple retains a great history of ancient Sri lanka.

While the temple dates back to the 3rd century, the traders who departed from the Chilaw boat harbor (Chilaw was formerly known as Sala Thota) had placed a casket of relics and worshipped every day. The Dagoba and remaining building of the temple premise were built by the traders.
