Panduwasnuwara, the oldest of the legendary capitals in Sri Lanka is arguably most interested among history lovers. The ancient city of Panduwasnuwara is an eminent landmark to be visited in addition to the Sri lankan tourism. Yet King Panduwasadewa (5th century BC) came to the throne and made his capital at Panduwasnuwara it was known as Upatissa Pura in King's age.

Panduwasuwara is located within 27 km to the northwest of Kurunegala. The site expands for about 20 hectares with full of archeological founding and ruined monuments which dates back to the 12th century AD. Simultaneously Panduwasnuwara was used as a place to recover the Sacred Tooth relic from the enemies. The six meter wide moat and the fortified wall will welcome you at the entrance.
