Yet another place to be visited is the magnificent ‘Lakshapana falls’ situated on the Maskeliya Oya. It is also known as ‘Veddah hiti Ella’ cause once the area was used to dwell by traditional veddhas. The name Lashapana derives from the presence of iron ore in the rocks. Further, the Lakshapana reservoir is used to generate electricity at the Power stations of New Lakshapana, Canyon and Polpitiye Samanala.

A stunning view of the fall can be enjoyed from the road between Norton bride and Maskeliya. If you want to go closer take the road from Polpitiya power station. Otherwise, take the road from Maskeliya to Norton Bridge and within 13 km were a subsidiary road to Kottalena will take you to the fall. Many tourists reach to the top and capture the downside vicinity from the fall. An observation point is also at the top. Take the advantage of traveling with a travel guide to reach the top safely. Of course, you can visit the fall by taking the Hatton – Maskeliya, and travel for the Pathana village. Meanwhile, a footpath downwards from the road will take you to the Lakshapana waterfall. You will be assisted by the locals around the area to show the pathway. The name Lakshapana elaborate about 100000 and Pahana, which means beautiful stone. In detail, it means the beautiful stone. Actually, the sheer rock face that the water over flows is a splendor during the rainy season. This 126 m cascade is reckoned as the 7th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. Some travelers are using the Lakshapana for baths, but it is not recommended and dangerous. Be careful while you are jumping into the water and climbing over the rocks.
