Yet another place to be visited is the magnificent ‘Lakshapana falls’ situated on the Maskeliya Oya. It is also known as ‘Veddah hiti Ella’ cause once the area was used to dwell by traditional veddhas. The name Lashapana derives from the presence of iron ore in the rocks. Further, the Lakshapana reservoir is used to generate electricity at the Power stations of New Lakshapana, Canyon and Polpitiye Samanala.

A stunning view of the fall can be enjoyed from the road between Norton bride and Maskeliya. If you want to go closer take the road from Polpitiya power station. Otherwise, take the road from Maskeliya to Norton Bridge and within 13 km were a subsidiary road to Kottalena will take you to the fall. Of course, you can visit the fall by taking the Hatton – Maskeliya, and travel for the Pathana village. Meanwhile, a footpath downwards from the road will take you to the Lakshapana waterfall.
