Nuwara Eliya is a top rated tourist attraction among Sri Lankan tourism since from the past. The queen Victoria Park, established in memory of 60th Jubilee coronation of Queen Victoria is located within the city of Nuwara Eliya. Today the park covers an area about 27 acres. The park is ideal relax and enjoy the nature while strolling the vicinity.

The park was started as a research field of Haggala botanical garden. It is said that the park was established the cause of a German Princess who planted an oak tree in the premise. But it was renovated from time to time gradually. A few years ago it was much stiff to be visited. So on now it has become an eminent attraction in Nuwara Eliya. Due to the high altitude, Nuwara Eliya has the coolest temperature of Sri Lanka. Therefore travelers should be ready with jerseys and blankets. The park houses a wide range of trees and plants. Among them, 90% are foreign plants. The main features are the roses and orchids. The queen Victoria Park gets full of visitors during the months of April whereas the April Season began. In addition, the park gets brimmed with flowers and fruits. Most of the children love to visit the place as they can enjoy everywhere without being patient. Apart from that, you can engage with gold tournaments, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, motor cross or water sports during the festival seasons of Nuwara Eliya.

Some of them can be enjoyed at any time. Obviously, the salubrious climate has added some exclusive features to the city. Hundreds of visitors are flocking to Nuwara Eliya reserving hotels and guest houses around the city. The river running through the city is also crossing the Victoria park. It is evident that the park is deemed to be birds watching destination. Kashmir Flycatcher, Indian blue robin, dull blue flycatcher, yellow eared bulbul are migrated from Himalayan mountains, India to the park. The landmark is distinguished with herbal and medicinal plants too. But they seemed to be not labeled.

Another curious feature o the park is the mini railway constructed for the kids. Follow the walkways through the park in order to enjoy Greenery environment with well-maintained gardens. You will be charged an entrance fee but well worth a visit. There will be no guides or officers to disturb you, therefore, please don’t pollute and foul the environment with rubbish.
